The Carlton Arms
On Monday, 6th July we shall be re-opening The Carlton Arms, albeit with a number of changes to the way we normally do things. We will have in place a range of measures to ensure that we comply with Government advice in dealing with Covid 19.
Before entry to the premises, we may ask to check peoples’ temperatures. We should be grateful for your co-operation in undertaking this procedure.
For the time being opening hours will be reduced to 12 noon to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 12 noon to 11pm Friday and Saturday.
The doors to both bars will be entry-only, with customers leaving the premises via the back doors. Patrons will be restricted to sitting at designated tables only, with no standing or sitting at the bar. We should be grateful if people would limit movement within the bars to visits to the toilets.
With regard to the toilets, a system of one in, one out will be in operation to reduce the risk of transmission of Coronavirus. The surfaces within the toilets will be cleaned by members of staff on a frequent and regular basis, but the risk of further transmission could be significantly reduced if patrons would ensure that they wash their hands thoroughly.
Food and drink orders will be taken by members of staff at the table. Food menus provided will be single-use, and disposed of after ordering is complete. Cutlery provided will have been thoroughly cleaned and sealed. All condiments will be in separate sachets.
The capacity for seating in both bars has been reduced in order to comply with social distancing guidelines. In the beer garden the tables have been spaced well apart to discourage inter-mingling of groups. We ask Patrons, therefore, to be patient as we all get used to the “new normal”. Government guidelines allow people from two households to be seated at one table, subject to a maximum of six people.
In order to facilitate effective tracing and tracking, if, unfortunately, this were to be required in the future, visitors will be asked to provide contact details upon arrival. We trust everyone will be willing to co-operate in this matter.
Hand sanitisers will be freely available throughout the pub as will single-use facemasks, and we encourage our customers to make full use of them.
We are all in new territory with the re-opening of the pub. The temptation, for example, to visit friends seated at another table, whom you haven’t seen for twelve weeks, will understandably be almost overwhelming. But please resist the temptation to rush over and shake their hand or hug them. Instead, think about having a chat with them outside in the car park or beer garden where the risks will be much reduced.
We look forward to seeing you all again, catching up on recent events and all the gossip! But please, let us all do this safely. That way we’ll all remain safe, and alive.
Pool and Darts
The dart boards in the public bar will not be available for play during this phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Pool table will be available for use, subject to certain conditions.
Games shall be restricted to two players only. Pool cues will be available from the bar after payment of a small, refundable deposit. They shall be returned after play, where they will be thoroughly cleaned prior to further use.
We would ask players and any spectators to respect social distancing rules during play.
As of Sunday, 12th July table service will once again be available. Because of Covid-19 guidelines we have had to reduce the number of tables in both bars. It is especially important, therefore, that to secure a table customers call 01223 367422 or text 07825 298586 to secure a booking. The carvery will be available from 12 noon to 4pm.
Take-Away and Delivery Service
We appreciate that some people will not feel comfortable visiting the pub even with the precautionary measures in place so we will continue to provide this service for the Sunday carvery as long as there is demand for it.
